The King's School, Worcester was re-founded in 1541 by Henry VIII to educate 40 scholars 'poor and destitute of the help of friends, already literate, of native genius and with an inborn aptitude for learning'
Nearly 475 years later our aim is to be able to secure the provision of these 40 places from a capital fund. To do this, we need to raise a minimum of £14 million.
In 2009 we were able to establish the Enduring Bursary Fund thanks to a donation of £1 million from Michael Baker (Ch 48-55). Many OVs have made additional contributions, or pleged legacies to this fund and as a result, we are already able to fund 6 full fee places through the Enduring Bursary Fund each year. But we would like to be able to help many more pupils.
