Story
FOUR Charlie
Four Charlie is comprised of four people; Darrell, Paul, Jon and Kieron. We intend to raise funds for St Raphael’s Hospice where our good friend Charles Dodson died this year.
Charles Story
On January 3 2013 we sadly lost our friend Charles to cancer, he was only 36 years of age. Not only did we lose a great friend but he also left behind a wife and beautiful 3 year old daughter. He was diagnosed two years ago with a type four aggressive brain tumour. Throughout his operations and treatment we all saw this dreadful disease gradually take hold of our friend. The last 10 weeks of Charles life were spent in the care of St Raphael’s Hospice. They cared for him in his darkest period and acted as a light in the darkness, not only for him but also for his family and friends. The care and attention he received was second to none. This amazing place looked after Charles and us and is now a place we all hold close to our hearts.
St Raphael’s
St Raphael’s is based in Cheam, Surrey. It costs £80,000 per WEEK to run and only 25% of that is government funded. The rest relies on donations and fundraising activities.
The Challenge ahead
The four of us will be cycling from Spa, Belgium to Silverstone, UK between the 23rd and the 28 of June 2013. We aim to raise as much money as we can for St Raphael’s. The funds raised will help St. Raphael’s continue doing what they do best, giving care to people who need it the most. It will also be our way of saying thank you for looking after our friend.
