Hi there, on the 7th March, six members of EMAS and QMC ED are going to be taking part in a running challenge entitled 48 hours in Buxton. The event was initially to be held at Clumber Park but the company organising the event pulled out at the last minute leaving us all disapointed as we did not wish to let our charity and sponsors down.  To this end we have at very short notice managed to secure a campsite in Hartington, just outside Buxton that is next to the Tissington Trail.

We are going to be running a 6 mile relay race that will take pairs of runners along this beautiful trail.  Each lap will begin at the Waterloo Inn in Hartington, post code SK17 0DH.  Runners will be heading off from 12pm on the Friday until sunset at approximately 1 hour intervals, then Saturday from sunrise until sunset and the Sunday from sunrise until midday.  Each runner will complete around a half marathon on the Friday, a full marathon on Saturday and a half marathon on the Sunday.

We are raising money for a charity very close to all our hearts and in memory of Sam White, a very special young man who was sadly taken from his parents last year. He gave much of his time to raise awareness for this charity throughout his illness and his parents continue to support this great cause, even to the extent that his dad Mike is running the Brighton Marathon later this year.

Our charity is the University of Nottingham - Childrens Brain Tumour Research

Sadly last week, Ian "Monty" Montgomery, a Community Paramedic from Ilkeston Station suddenly and tragically passed away at home.  Monty was a well thought of and respected man who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Monty was a keen athlete and last year organised a team from EMAS that raised money for the British Heart Foundation when they underwent a 40 mile off road cycling challenge.

Monty was keen to take part in this challenge with us so as a tribute to the selfless way he lived his life the team are running this event as a dedication to his memory as well as Sam White.

If anyone would like to join us throughout the event at the Waterloo Inn they are more than welcome to come along, have a beer and share memories of Monty with his friends and colleagues.  We are also keen for other people to either cycle or run along side us whilst we complete this gruelling challenge.

All donations made on this page will still be made to the University of Nottingham - Childrens Brain Tumour Research.

All donations will be greatly appreciated, we are painfully aware that everyone is broke at the moment but even a pound can make a difference.

Thanks in anticipation everyone
