The heroes of WWII are all but forgotten. Unbeknownst to many, the last remaining survivors of the war make the pilgrimage to Normandy every year to the remember the fallen, who, unlike them, did not return.

As you can imagine, the cost of visiting Normandy every year for veterans of this age is substantial. This year the National Lottery have removed their funding and the veterans from the Normandy Veterans Association (Surrey branch) are having great difficulty raising the money needed for the trip.

If we can raise £5,000, every member from the NVA Surrey branch can go to Normandy!

So,

This June, I will kayak the coastline from Granville to Saint-Georges-de-la-Rivière (40-50 miles). Once at Saint-Georges-de-la-Rivière I will run all the way to Arromanches-les-Bains (65 miles).

Along the route I will pass through some extremely significant areas from WWII including:

Sainte-Mère-Église- One of the first towns liberated in the invasion of Normandy.

Carentan- Battle of Carentan.

Bayeux- Home to the largest British cemetery dating from the Second World War in France.

Arromanches-les-Bains- Designated as Gold Beach (British landing beach) during the D-Day landings.

This is going to be the most demanding challenge I have ever attempted and will see me kayaking/running through the night and with all the gear needed for the challenge (tent, sleeping bag, food, cooking aparatus, etc...)

Please sponsor me and get out war vets back to Normandy for their day of recognition!
