Story
Dear friends,
In July 2015, a group of GSAL Sixth Formers visited Malawi. During this tour we challenged our students to paint some of the classrooms, which our previous fundraising had already helped to build, at Chimbowe primary school. The aim was to provide appropriate visual curriculum material to benefit the learning of the children and as you can see from the photograph they have done a brilliant job!
All of the projects we support in Malawi are grassroots projects and we aim to provide sustainable support. We also visit the projects regularly to monitor the progress being made. As the photo highlights, the children currently have no desks at which to complete their studies. £15 would pay for the materials and craftsmanship of Mr Namwaza, a local carpenter, to build a double desk for the
classroom and our medium to long term aim is to employ Mr Namwaza to produce 30 desks (i.e. seating for 60 pupils) per classroom.
Every little helps and we would be hugely grateful for any donations you might feel able to give. If you are interested in donating the full £15 for a desk and would like a particular name engraved in the desk then please leave details in the message section of this page.
On behalf of the children of Chimbowe primary school, Zikomo Kwambiri (thank you very much) for your support.
