Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My husband Paul (52), a self-employed joiner was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2011. Unfortunately for us it spread to his lymph nodes in 2012 and he had to have them removed.
Paul was doing great for nearly 2 years then in January this year, he started having dizzy spells and completely lost his hearing. We were told the horrendous news that the cancer had spread to his brain and had too many tumours to operate and the tumours were also in his ears which is why his lost his hearing this apparently is very rare. We were told he had terminal melanoma and was given months to live.
He has been taking part in a clinical trial drug which is hopefully going to prolong his life and shrink the tumours. He is doing great and is still here some 5 months later which we have to admit we never thought would happen. Unfortunately for us his body started to reject the tablets and a new action plan needed to be put in place.
St Clare's have been a tower of strength to our family. They have also been there with medical and emotional support for myself and our two children (9 and 14).
Please, please people any change in the shape, colour or size of a mole, please seek the doctor's help and if need be get a second opinion. Always use factor 50 especially on children is that tan really worth your life?! It is really important to us all that we stop this happening to anyone else.
