We take young people on fun sailing trips to rebuild confidence and independence

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

For those of you who know me well you will know that I'm far more likely to be in training for a night out than any strenuous exercise. I figured if I was going to half kill myself I would do it for a charity close to my heart. My close friends son Ben Baldry  was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 11. He underwent eight hours of surgery at the specialist Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, followed by six weeks of radiotherapy and 18 months of chemotherapy. Ben's scans have now been stable for over 5 years.  In 2014 Ben was lucky enough to be chosen to go to The Isle of Wight and take part in the  round the island race with The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.  The youngsters all gain confidence and have to work as a team and for Ben the work involved is great physiotherapy to help him with the weakness he has on his right hand side. His family can't praise the trust enough and even though Dame Ellen MacArthur is well known not so many people are aware of this charity.

The idea of a challenge came through my new job and collectively we are doing this 8k assault course, Above and Beyond is a brutal endurance challenge over a variety of terrain from mud, to rock to the rolling sea.
Incorporating over 30 of the toughest obstacles imaginable, Above and Beyond has been designed by military experts to push you to the limits of human endurance, testing your strength, your nerve and your courage. Above and Beyond is the ultimate trial of physical, mental and psychological fortitude.

Please please give generously to this fantastic charity, all donations greatly received! x
