We provide advice and support to improve the lives of cancer patients
Story
From 7th July to 27th July I have decided to cycle from Santander to Perpignon via the Pyrenees (approx 1,000km). All going well I may even possibly make it up to Paris (which would be approx 1,600km) to see the finish of the Tour de France. This is of course if my legs permit me to! I will be cycling with a good old friend Wicksy and we will be unsupported carrying all our clothes and camping gear along the way.
I have decided to do this challenge to raise money for Star Throwers in memory of a wonderful friend Alex Symington, who after many years of battling cancer sadly passed away last November. Alex lived her life to the full with a remarkable selfless love and care for those around her, remaining infectiously joyful and strong throughout her years of illness.
I don't know where she got her incredible energy from as she was never stationary, always filling her days with adventures, horse riding, caring for her many pets and finding time to help countless others. She supported other sufferers, ran countless fundraising events, went on QVC to raise money for charity and took part in breast cancer fashion shows in London (even modelling in a wheelchair when she was too weak to walk down the catwalk).
I feel truly blessed to have known such a beautiful person. She is a true inspiration of hope and positivity in the face of suffering.
Star throwers are a Norfolk based cancer support charity who gave Alex support and hope throughout her illness. I therefore wish to raise money to help this charity to continue to give support and hope to others with cancer.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and support Star Throwers (see www.starthrowers.org.uk for more details) . James
