Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My wife Elaine Walker sadly passed away this year on 3/2/14. She had fought a four year battle with secondary breast cancer.
All of her treatment was done at Stepping Hill Hospital Stockport and for the most part in the Laurel Suite Chemotherapy unit.
The nurses on this unit are true angels. Dedicated is not the word, they are more than that. Doing a daily job which sees them win some and lose some means they have a special character. They were not just there to administer treatment, but offered so much support which got myself and Elaine through all the highs and lows of her battle. A cuppa, a shoulder to cry on, and wealth of info, a calming voice and a hug when needed were all available. They create an almost family like atmosphere.
So now Elaine's fight is over, I want to give something back to these ladies. So having asked what would make their jobs easier, the goal is to raise £10000. This will allow the unit to purchase 2 specialist blood taking chairs and their own ECG machine.
The purchase of this equipment will leave a bit of a legacy in Elaine's memory as she was a bit of a celeb on the unit and a fitting one I think. She always spoke of the nurses as her team and what a team they are.
So please help me, join me in my quest to reach this target for a unit which may be small but whose influence is huge for the patients they care for.
