Sian is a one year old Shar pei who came into the care of the RSPCA Norwich & Mid Norfolk branch after being a horrendous case of cruelty & neglect.

Like many Shar pei's, Sian had developed some medical issues that ignorantly had been left to get worse and worse, resulting in her being in terrible pain & discomfort. She was removed from her owner by an RSPCA inspector & came into our care where we could start her on the treatment she desperately needed.

When Sian entered our care she had been diagnosed with a chronic skin disease that was causing her to be almost completely bald & had bloody red sores all over her body. She had thickened & inflammed ear canals & her eyelids were so swollen she could barely see. She was also very underweight for her breed and size.

Immidiately we started her on a course of medicated baths, steriods, ear drops & a combination of eye drops. Her meals were increased to 3-4 meals per day and is gradually putting on a good amount of weight.

Sian is showing great improvements in just a month of being on treatment, however after speaking with a vet it could be a case that Sian may need surgery.
The vet has concerns that Sian may need to have a 'face lift' to control and reposition the excess skin from her face, which is rubbing & causing swelling to her eyes.

This procedure could cost up to £800 and we really, really need your help to be able to help Sian. If it is neccessary she needs this operation it will improve her quality of life greatly & her vision will no longer be restricted.

However if her eyes make good progress and recover well the kind donations will be put towards Sian's current veterinary bills and towards other dogs and cats in our care who are in similar situations to Sian.
