Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April, my father Derek lost his 4 year war against cancer and I can honestly say that nothing could have prepared us for how this would
affect our family. Derek was a true gentleman, he never complained throughout his treatment, lived his life to the absolute fullest for as long as he possibly could and remained a true and caring friend to me to the very end. We all miss him terribly.
Trying to make sense of this type of loss is futile but we decided we needed a goal to focus our minds - the Snowdon Challenge, an event
to raise money as a way of express our gratitude to all the help and support these fantastic charities have provide. So, on 24th September along with 38 of our friends and family we will be….
- · Hiking up and down Mount Snowdon
- · Cycling 34 km
- · Canoeing 4 km across a lake
We start at 8 am and apparently should be finished at any time between 4 pm and 6 pm depending on conditions, fitness levels etc. This is
a blatant request for donations as there is little point in the pain of all the
training we are all doing if it doesn’t result in funds for the charities we
are supporting of which there are two – St Richards Hospice, where Derek spent the final few weeks of his life and Macmillan Cancer Support, whose nurses are nothing short of amazing.
