So, what am I doing and why? From being a little girl I have been fascinated by Everest; but people like me don't climb Everest ... or do they? There is a challenge called the Seven Summits which takes in the highest independent peaks on each of the seven continents and which culminates in an attempt on Everest.
I've climbed Kilimanjaro in 2014 (one of the seven) and now plan to climb the rest over a five year period. It looks like this:
2016 - Elbrus, Russia (August) and Aconcagua, Argentina (December)
2017 - Denali, Alaska
2018 - Carstensz Pyramid (Papua New Guinea)
2019 - Vinson, Antartica
2020 - Everest
I aim to raise £250,000 for the Hope Fund which is being cared for, invested and looked after by the Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation. This Fund will benefit charities in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who offer hope and opportunity to those in need - whether they be human or non-human.
Please, please, please help me to achieve my aim of raising £250,000 over the next 5 years. It's important to note that I will be funding my own training, travel and equipment. ALL money raised (with the exception of a small fee charged by the Community Foundation for looking after the Fund) will be invested with the interest donated to local charities to help and support them.
Any questions then do please get in touch and ask. Happy to answer them and thank you once again,
Rach
