Story
In Plod We Trust' comprises the unlikely ultra marathon quartet of Scott, Readie, Rich and myself! And this year we have decided to take on the challenge of the Gobi Desert for 7 days and nights, covering 250kms of rugged hills, sandy plains and rocky roads with the magnificent (we hope!) support of www.racetheplanet.com. All this while carrying 12kgs of 'survival' equipment on our backs including food, clothes, sleeping bag and a considerable amount of anti-chaffing cream. A nice little stroll it will not be and a baptism of fire into ultra marathons it will be!
Our aim is to raise a hefty sum for charity which will make the blisters, sun burn, hole-in-the-ground toilets, ration packs and inevitable aches and pains all worthwhile. So why are we doing this I hear you ask? The usual answers creep out...'it's there, we might as well give it a go, could be fun, pretty sure we'll come back alive, scenery looks stunning, can't be that hard can it?'. But to be honest we have no answer other than the standard mid-life crisis defense!
For my part I will be raising money for The Cure for Parkinson's charity. I recently lost my father to this debilitating disease and my aim is to raise as much money as possible to help find a cure. All of your donations will be much appreciated.
