We enable people with disabilities to achieve their full potential

Story

Welcome to our Just Giving page, for many years the Robertson house girls, parents and staff have participated in the Swim. The girls have encouraged many other members of Sedbergh school in the past years to participate in the Great North Swim.

This year pupils from all senior school houses, prep school pupils, staff and parents are undertaking the Great North Swim on the 10th of June.

This is now a tradition and we undergo the challenge each year in hope of raising money for a good cause.

The Calvert Trust is a very special charity because they enable people with disabilities to achieve their potential through the challenge of adventurous activities in the country side.

This swim isn't an easy challenge and it requires a strong physical fitness as well as a strong mindset as its not easy swimming in open water - especially a cold lake in Windermere. With the sedberghian mindset we like to push ourselves to the limit and embark on new challenges every year.

In previous years of doing the swim, we have won the ladies team competition and have raised huge amounts of money for many charities.

Please help us to achieve our target. We are extremely grateful for all donations made.

Thank you

About the charity

The Lake District Calvert Trust provides residential outdoor activity courses for people of all ages with physical, sensory, learning, behavioural and/or mental disabilities. Its mission is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure. Pioneering equipment adaptations, and intensive, instructor-led activity programmes (that include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing, horse/trap driving, archery, orienteering and paragliding), provide an environment whose aims are to teach, challenge, motivate, engender confidence in ability, promote independence, and foster integration. All instructors are highly trained and specialist qualified, and the facilities are specially adapted and fully accessible to all. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides a unique and life-changing experience for those with disabilities, who are encouraged to believe that it’s what you CAN do that counts.
