Great North Run 2016 · 11 September 2017 ·

Story

This year I am running the 2016 Great North Run (13.1miles) this September to raise funds for the foundation setup to in memory & in honour of my friend Stephen Thompson (Bowburn Mag) who I ran GNR with in 2009 & 2010.

Steve was great bloke who will never be forgotten.

'The Stephen Thompson Foundation’ was set up in December 2011. Following the tragic death of Stephen, those close to him were left with an overwhelming need to do something to help and to keep his memory alive by turning sadness into something positive. http://www.stephenthompsonfoundation.org/

The main aim of the Stephen Thompson Foundation Charity is to raise funds for research into Giant Cell Myocarditis of which little is known. At present there is only one clinic in America that is currently running a research programme into this heart disease, details of which an be found at www.myocarditisfoundation.org.

We are hoping to raise sufficient funds so that research for Giant Cell Myocarditis can be set up within the UK.
