Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am attempting to the run the Leeds half marathon on the 10th May to raise money for a very special cause. For those of you that know me well, you will know that me and running are not a match made in heaven. It's more a love / hate relationship.
I have attempted to train over the last couple of months but inevitably injuries, illness, and social life have proved I am not meant to be an athlete. However, I am determined to do it even if I have to crawl over that finishing line.
As some of you will know, I lost by bestest friend Vicky Baker to lung cancer 2 years ago. She was just 31! I miss Vicky every single day. She was, and always will be my hero - a true inspiration! She is the reason I am doing this and I'm hoping that instead of chuckling at me struggling to get round, she will take pity and help carry me round.
I am also doing this for my colleague and friend Alan Radbourne who is currently undergoing treatment for bone marrow cancer. Alan is the nicest man I have ever met and an inspiration to us all!
And also another fabulous friend Jo, the life and soul of every party! Jo found out last year she had breast cancer and is going through treatment at the moment. Jo - keep strong my lovely!!
And finally, my lovely grandma who we lost too early from bowel cancer and Pop from prostate cancer. I'm sure the will give me a nudge to the finishing line too!
We all know someone who has been affected by this horrible disease. I urge you to dig deep and help to save more lives by discovering ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. This is what will get me to the finishing line!
"Things are always good as long as you look for and find the good things in life. Remember to always do this, and smile!" Vicky Baker - 03/11/81 - 07/04/13
