Story

John Harley, a close family friend, has kindly volunteered to dedicate his run in the 2012 London Marathon to the memory of Alex Galanis and has selected the Dandelion Time charity, which is supported by the Alex Galanis Charitable Foundation, as his chosen charity.

As a grandfather, if John manages to hit his target time of 3 hours and 30 minutes, we'll be seriously impressed. Clearly a great deal of training and avoidance of good wine has gone in to his preparation and we wish him all the best.

John - we cannot thank you enough for doing this in memory of Dad. He would have said you were absolutely crazy for taking this on and would have undoubtedly stuck a bet on your finishing time. As a result, for every minute you better 4 hours 30 (which is a more-than-respectable time for a gentleman of your life experience), the foundation will contribute £1!

Best of luck - we'll be rooting for you!

Dandelion Time is a charity for children struggling with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. These children may be socially isolated and many have been excluded or have withdrawn from school. Dandelion works with the whole family in a therapeutic programme of activities around the farm. Children discover their abilities in a practical, stimulating way, building confidence and self esteem and helping them to re-engage at home and at school. www.dandeliontime.org.uk
