Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ali was my wife and partner of 34 years. She was my soul mate. It was just the two of us - we were inseparable.
Ali was first diagnosed and treated for breast cancer 9 years ago, but it returned with a vengeance in November 2011. Ali fought it with great courage and dignity, and was an inspiration to many. After much suffering, Ali died at home on 3 February 2013.
As a thank you for the fantastic care Ali received in the Cancer Care Centre (CCC) within York Hospital, me and my border collie Midge plan to walk the 96 miles of the West Highland Way from Milngavie, north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, in May.
Please give generously to the Cancer Care Centre in memory of Ali.
Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer and in 2012, over 2,100 people were diagnosed with cancer at York Hospital. The CCC supports over 9,300 patients a year.
York CCC helps cancer patients in the following ways:
· Life-saving and up to date equipment
· Patient and carer support
· Additional staff and staff training and development
· Research and development
· Improving and enhancing the Hospital environment
