Story

Dear family, friends and colleagues,

Ruby aged 6 from Hackney in London has a message for you.
She is wearing a life jacket worn 2 weeks ago by a refugee Syrian girl of a similar age. With her mother, this girl fled across the sea at night to escape bombing and killing. She did not know her life jacket, sold by smugglers and worn here by Ruby, was fake and would sink.

HELP ME TO SUPPORT VULNERABLE REFUGEES - I am now fundraising and running 22km at the Hackney Half Marathon to help refugees fleeing war. Please share, support my run and if you can, please donate. Thank You.
Love Amanda and Ruby

As an unseasoned long distance runner, at the ripe young age of 45 I only went and said YES to Phil and signed myself up for a half marathon.."Well done! Eh..you've done what?!".. the goal is to raise £10,000+ in support of REACT.   Check out the site to see why:

Please help, we appreciate all your donations however big or small, don't forget to say YES to Gift Aid.

Thank you very much, see you on the other side.

The Refugee Education Across Conflicts Trust is now fundraising to keep a vital shelter open for vulnerable refugee women and children arriving on the island of Lesvos, Greece. Escaping trauma and war, they arrive via a perilous sea crossing and many are in a desperate condition. REACT has been on the ground in Greece and know this center does amazing work - we have to keep it running and serving those in need. REACT also shall be continuing our years of support to 1000s of Darfuri refugee children who have been more or less abandoned by UN agencies in Eastern Chad in their refugee camps and they have asked for a library of school books and a community shelter to serve their educational aspirations. REACT is supported by volunteer heroes who are going to run a half marathon and endevour to reach our target of 10,000 UK pounds. Please support them all!

REACT is dedicated to supporting those fleeing conflicts and living in displaced camps to access education and exercise their right to an independent and dignified economic social and cultural development. As refugees, young people no longer have access to their former schools or textbooks. Being excluded from their national curriculum they are unable to gain vital qualifications, something that can offer them professional employment and a recognised standing in their community and country. At REACT we seek to support refugee students and teachers by working with community leaders and local partners, creating clear impact driven projects to provide educational resources.

REACT believes those fleeing conflict and war have the right to protection and basic services to ensure their well being. REACT supports direct emergency relief, focusing specifically on women, children and the vulnerable. The right to shelter and refuge and emergency medical help, is one of the key central missions of the charity. For refugees living in camps we believe they have the same ambitions and talents as others individuals and should have the right to enjoy equal access to develop their potentials. REACT aims to empower refugee schools by establishing channels for mutual support, communication and understanding through education and the media.
