Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This summer I am cycling to Paris to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis in memory of my buddy Paul Shyvers.
Paul and I met when we were 6 and became instant friends, his devil-may-care attitude to rules, danger and consequences made everyday an adventure. His friendship was the gift that just kept on giving – happiness, entertainment and laughter. A great man, a great mate, a great life.
One summer Paul and I were short of cash but full of adventure so we decided to hitch-hike to the South of France. Unfortunately we only made it to Paris. This year, I will make the same journey, but this time on a bicycle, in memory of Paul and to raise money for the wonderful people at the Hospice of St Francis: because of them Paul was able to spend his last days surrounded by his friends and family in an environment that offers not just palliative care but also practical, emotional and spiritual support.
Delivering this is an expensive business. Although the care is provided free of charge, it costs £4.7m every year to run the Hospice. Only 20% of these expenses are covered by the NHS.
Please make a donation to the Hospice so that they can continue helping people and families as they deal with serious illness.
All costs associated with the trip have been covered by my wife's donation, so just in case you needed any other incentive to give generously - 100% of YOUR money will go to the Hospice.
Thank you so much for your support.
