A growing number of Muslims are buried or cremated as ‘unknown’ meaning they have no known family or friends to bury them. There have been instances where the deceased bodies were kept in hospital morgues for weeks and months with the only option of cremation left available. The background range from people from the visiting student community, no legal status and needy Muslim reverts. We can help needy individuals through advice, loans or grants after carefully assessing their needs and developing a burial plan. Muslim Burial Fund will usually support those who are eligible for zakat or are completely isolated and have no family support.
