We (Rob, Andrea and Scotty) are taking part in the Great North Run in aid of British Lung Foundation, and hope to raise awareness of the great work they do and also help to raise funds to support their research into lung disease and help people to live a longer healthier life.
Just less than a year ago our mother, Ann Walls, sadly passed away due to a condition known as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is one of the most common respiratory diseases in the UK. It usually affects people over the age of 35, although most people are not diagnosed until they are in their fifties.
It is thought there are over 3 million people living with the disease in the UK, of which only about 900,000 have been diagnosed.
We would dearly love to allow more people to be diagnosed and be offered treatment to help extend their life. British Lung Foundation support people with lung disease in various ways from their support groups across the UK, BLF nurses who provide specialist care at home, and the world class research programme being carried out to make big improvments to lung health. All in all it's a really amazing charity!!!
