Story
Hi
In February 2012 our brother Rob was diagnosed with Melanoma. It is the most aggressive form of skin cancer, it spreads fast and knows no boundaries. It is the UK's fastest growing cancer with around 12,000 new cases every year - a fourfold increase since the 1970s. It is the most common form of cancer in young adults.
An intense 11 months followed of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, more surgery and a new type of immunology treatment called ipilimumab. Rob took on everything with such braveness and strength and fought so hard until the very end - January 2013, Age 34. He left behind two young children and a loving wife. He will be missed by his friends and family forever more.
Its our intention to try and raise £4 for every mile cycled on this trip in memory of Rob and to help support the Macmillan nurses who were so supportive when he need them. His fight against cancer was short and brutal and caught everyone by surprise, we are hoping to raise some awareness in the year leading up to this and hopefully achieve our fund raising goal.
At the time of writing his friends, and family have already managed to raise a massive £15,000 in his memory and we'd like to add to this whilst keeping his memory alive.
