Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
As many of you know, my sister Sophie died very suddenly in December 2009 at just 24 years old and Macmillan Cancer Support was her chosen charity as their advice really helped her cope with the difficult diagnosis in a constructive way.
A huge amount of money (over £25,000) has been raised in Sophie's memory through various ventures over the past 3 years: cake sales and concerts, 5 and 10k races, pub quizzes and even a Bollywood dancing world record attempt in 10 venues around the world!
This is a testament to the wonderful generosity of so many family and friends, but also strangers who never met Sophie but heard her story or have been touched by her humour in her blog: http://www.cupcakescurlsandchemo.blogspot.co.uk/
However, cancer remains a vicious disease that is all too prevalent and affects so many people. I'm lucky to be joined by some very dear friends to run the Bristol 10k, all of whom knew Sophie and been incredibly supportive in helping my family cope with her loss.
Sara, Kat, Quinn and Kitty each have their own experience of seeing a friend or relative struggle with the terrifying aspects of cancer, whether diagnosis, treatment, remission or bereavement. Whilst we continue to be inspired by the bravery and positivity of the wonderful survivors we know and love (and who keep us on the straight and narrow training-wise - thanks Alun Wright!) we hope that the money raised will continue to help many other people cope themselves.
Thank you for your continued love and support. Soph would be very proud. xxx
