Bristol to Penarth Rhibs run, 15 November 2016

Story

Bristol to Penarth Rhibs Run was founded on the facebook group 'Rhibs,Sibs & Small powerboats', it was hosted By Bristol Cruising Club.
The aim was to get like minded boaters from all round the world together and cruise from Bristol, down the River Avon and across the Severn estuary to Penarth and back. At the same time we were to raise much needed funds for Macmillan cancer support.
The first event in June 2015 was so successful and featured in the Sept edition of Powerboat and Rib Magazine, we decided to make it an annual event.
This year we have decided to fundraise for our local voluntary rescue service next year, SARA ' www.sara-rescue.org.uk/ ' The Severn Area Rescue Association.
They are an Inshore Rescue boat and Land Search organisation covering the Severn Estuary and the surrounding area.
They provide Search and Rescue services 24/7, 365 days of the year.
For those who did the B to P 2015 you may remember Kevin Green in the lead boat, He is a coxswain with SARA and has informed us of how we can help.
We will be specifically raising funds for the Sharpness station as they urgently need a refurb of there 3.5m lifeboat 'sara 12'.

So come and join us for a Cruise down the River Avon under Brunels famous Clifton suspension Bridge and then a Blast out across the Mighty Severn estuary with its huge tidal range, and on up under the two Severn Bridges. From there a dash back down along the coast to flat holm island, then a sharp right turn and through the bararge into cardiff bay.
This years event will be on the 3rd, 4th & 5th of June, with the cruise taking place on the Sunday the same day as last year, Saturday and for some Friday will be for launching plus the opportunity to get to get together for a bit of a social and few more things in the planning for you as well. We will confirm the full itinerary at a later date.
