Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our son Richard was born in November 1986 and diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy four years later. He died aged just 20 in February 2007. I will be setting off on this bike ride on Sunday, 16th September in memory of Richard and to raise much needed funds for the DFSG, who do absolutely brilliant work supporting families affected by Duchenne. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a muscle wasting condition with no known cure, which mostly affects boys. The condition causes progressive muscle weakness leading to premature loss of life. Hence the need for specialist holidays for those with DMD and their families. We first got to hear about the DFSG back in the early 1990s. Our first holiday with the group was at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire where we made lifelong friends. Richard absolutely loved the holidays and we have many happy memories from those times. Please support me by donating as much as you can spare. I would like to give something back to the DFSG so that they can continue to organise holidays and events for families to get together in a relaxed environment.
Please visit www.dfsg.org.uk to find out more about the Group's activites and why it has proved a lifeline to many families whose lives have been turned upside down by this devastating condition.
