Story
Roger Belson was a great man. As a result of a car accident he spent the last 20 years of his life in a wheel chair. In his case, this tragedy seems only to have heightened his love of life and commitment to helping others. I met Roger 10 years ago when he moved to Watlington and, like everyone else who was lucky enough to know him, instantly fell under his spell.
He was a director of Regain. He supported it with a passion and constantly raised funds for it during his life time.
Regain is the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the independence of all British men and women who have suffered spinal cord damage as a result of a sports or leisure injury.
By supporting Regain you will be helping to provide the specialist equipment needed to achieve greater independence. Transport, wheelchairs, housing, access and computers are all very expensive to buy or adapt.
Some accidents occur during active participation in sport, most often to dynamic, young people. One minute they are fit and healthy, the next they are paralysed, unable to move and in need of care for the rest of their lives.
Just before Christmas I emailed Roger to say that I would attempt the 3 cities bike ride. He was delighted and promised he would support me. Tragically, he died within days of our final conversation.
There is no alternative funding available for Regain, so please donate here, even a tiny amount will make all the difference. Take time to watch the video - it says it all
I shall be covering three hundred miles, three countries (UK, Holland, Belgium) and three capitals.....from 12th to 16th September!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
