We are raising funds to pay for midwives to receive bereavement training

Story

On Thursday 11th September I will once again be mounting my bike to take part in the 2014 Cyclothon. The event is a 12 hour endurance cycling challenge around
the world famous motor racing circuit in Kent. (This could prove to be a very tricky challenge as I still don’t technically have a bike yet!!)

So once again I am asking you to consider sponsoring me for Abigail’s Footsteps please. You may have already sponsored me on one of my other endeavours this year, but don’t let that stop you sponsoring me again. The recession is over, there are green shoots everywhere and you can set your annual donations off against your
personal tax so you could even double the amount you first thought off donating.

The charity has had a tremendous year this year and thanks to fantastic fundraisers around the UK has provided vital equipment and training to a number of hospitals and their staff.
Our awareness film The Deafening Silence which premiered in December 2013 has won two IVCA Gold Awards and is being immortalised by the British Film Institute as a film of national importance.

More importantly it has been adopted by SANDs and Child Bereavement UK who are two very large national charities,
and are both using the film as a major part of their new training programmes.
However our biggest achievement to date won’t be announced officially until October when a national e-learning course for bereavement training will be released by the Royal College of Midwives.

Written by the RCM in conjunction with SANDS and
Child Bereavement UK the training is once again based around our film. Furthermore we as a charity are funding a large part of the development costs. The end result will be that 27,000 midwives in the UK will have access to on-line bereavement training for the first time.

So please dig deep and sponsor me if you can, as you can see your money does truly make a difference to the care that families receive following the death of their child.

You can donate by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/David-Ward32/ or by texting AFBH14 £10 to 70070

Thank you

David
