The #SimonSleepOut marks my 11year involvement in Community.
It was on Saturday 22nd October 2005 that spent my first 24hrs (Interview) with the Simon Community.
In that time scale I arrived an hour late to an address in Hackney Downs, catching a 30 bus from KingsX.
My first activities was being introduced hospitality and drinking tea we then went and bought 30 loaves of bread and prepared sandwiches for street work and the morning t-run. The evening was spent meeting people on the streets of London till around 1am then we were up at 5am for the t-run after share night in the workers room. We didn't leave till 6am as there was a car issue and we had to wait for another car to arrive from Simon House. We stopped on Upper Street and Euston, and it was my first time to Milford Lane (which latter years, would be a lovely place for a chat and a cup of tea with so many great friends, quite a few of these individuals were being targeted under operation poncho) the person I met that day told me one of the most harrowing stories I have herd on the street. I never have seen them again. Not sure if we got to the bullring or army and navy as we on limited supplies that day. Then it was back to Anton Street for a breakfast meet and grilling by workers/co-workers and residents I was barley a wake at this point. And then I went to visit Simon House and had an interview with their residents and workers.
It was now Sunday and on the Saturday I had just finished moving out of Leeds and my return journey was to the West Country.
