Story
Hi Everyone,
We've chosen a gruelling 26 mile 'jog' around Edinburgh as a relaxing to way to spend the weekend of May 31st! There's a bunch of us 'relaying' the Edinburgh Marathon, raising money for the fabulous Neo-Natal Unit in Sheffield.
The squad includes Richard Isgar running 8.3miles, Scott McCharg doing 5.5miles and marathon newbie Heather Godbert who is bravely taking on 2 legs of a marathon relay herself - a blister popping 12.5 miles!
Also part of Team George is Stephen Hardy (pictured) gunning for a sub 3 hour time.
Original team member, Eric Banks is now Chief Back Up Support Director having sustained a nasty ankle injury, which has severely hampered (make that ended!) his running preparation.
Our grimacing on the day is for a very worthy cause though - the Neo-Natal unit has a long and varied wishlist of what it would like to purchase, including
Positioning aids
Baby examination trolley
‘Premature’ stethoscopes
Soothers
Baby clothes and bibs
Breast feeding pillows
Disposable cameras
Bereavement packs
Toys for the waiting area
Bedding for the parents rooms
The run is in memory of baby George Thomas Gordon who was born at 26 weeks plus four days on June 29th 2009 and sadly passed away just 12 hours later on June 30th 2009.
