By turning a personal goal into a fund raising activity I'm hoping to do something positive and collect donations for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, in memory of Holly Webber.
Holly and I studied alongside one another at Brighton Uni and graduated in 2009. It was a great shock to to discover that just 6 months later she had been diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer, at the age of 23.
Having undergone aggressive treatment for over 2 years, including chemotherapy and 3 major surgeries, her cancer tragically became terminal. Incredibly, Holly summoned the willpower to create a wonderful blog named 'Passing Cloud' which she used to share her thoughts and experiences whilst raising awareness for bowel cancer in younger people.
Holly said of Passing Cloud that she wished to educate, help and inspire others, and she certainly did. It reached many people, and at a time when I was struggling her words resonated deeply and gave me a valuable new perspective.
Sadly Holly passed away on the 30th August 2012. I am truly grateful for Holly's insights and I hope to be able to honour her memory by collecting donations for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, who supported her during her journey, and who continue to provide physical and emotional support to others with terminal illness.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, and please donate if you can.
Hope is the thing with feathers,
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all.
