Refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and across the world are losing their lives trying to cross the Aegean Sea - Greece in order to find safety in Europe.

'It's happening on our door step'

To date thousands have died and many have gone unaccounted for. Numerous requests have been made to Muslim Burial Fund to support the burial of Muslim refugees on the Greek islands.

A team of volunteers including myself, will travel to Lesvos in mid April 2016 to support bereaved families with funerals for refugees who have passed away in the most tragic of circumstances (we will pay for our own costs).

We plan to support local groups on the ground with burial assistance:

💧Purchase a hearse for carrying the deceased 
💧Coffins for transport
💧Shrouds to cloth the deceased
💧Engraved name plaques for grave identification.
💧Provide assistance to an undertaker to continue supporting the burials. 
💧Support the development of a cemetery including developing a morgue, ghusul and prayer facilities.
💧Night/ day watch shift at Korakas. The Korakas lighthouse is a extremely dangerous area for refugee boats to arrive.
