Story
I will be taking part in The Gauntlet Run on the 6th April 2014, in support of Saint Francis Hospice. The challenge is a 6km obstacle course with numerous water pits and possibly the toughest mud pits in the UK.
On 21st January 2013, I lost my best friend- my Grandmother, Marion Tracey aged 81. After beating bowel cancer twice, it unfortunately re-appeared again for a 3rd time. Throughout the battles she was extremely brave with a smile never leaving her face. A woman that was caring, supportive and taught me things that I will never forget.
My Grandmother was cared for by Saint Francis Hospice for a few weeks in December 2012, something that she requested when the time got near. As a family we were able to spend the Christmas period and New Year period in the hospice alongside her whenever we wished. The nurses were all friendly and the care that she received was outstanding; someone was always there and support was also given to us as a family. We strongly believe that her time in the Hospice gave her a little extra strength to be able to come home for a few weeks, where she fell asleep in her home with the family around her.
I am supporting this charity in Memory of my Grandmother and to also raise awareness of the great support and assistance that Saint Francis Hospice provides. Saint Francis Hospice will need £7.7 Million this year to keep their doors open and for the services to be fully operational. All of the services they provide are free of charge.
I would like to raise as much money as possible for Saint Francis Hospice to help contribute towards essential care that is required each day by patients and families; giving those extra few weeks of precious time to other families.
Thank you for your support
