Story
I am walking Hadrian's wall (Heddon-on-the-Wall to Carlisle) from the 31st of July to the 5th of August to raise money for Global One's Dining for Dignity campaign.
The project involves sending feminine hygiene kits to Syrian refugee women so that basic sanitation during menstruation can be maintained whilst living in a refugee camp. Menstruation is often considered to be a taboo subject, but without proper support, women and girls resort to using unsafe materials such as rags to manage their periods. Not only does this cause discomfort and disease, but many suffer from high levels of stress and depression. Global One will raise £10,000 to send hygiene kits to 400 refugee women so that they do not have to face these issues alone, and will have access to the materials they need to maintain their dignity and health.
Each kit costs £25. It will include one menstrual cup with a guide or a pack of sanitary towels, soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, a flannel and clothes washing soap.
