2016 marks the Diamond Jubilee of Leicester Animal Aid and to celebrate we would love to invite our supporters to come up with 60 ways to raise £60. This can be as weird and wacky as you make it!

Story

In February I landed my dream job at Leicestershire dog and cat rescue and rehoming Centre.

It only took a few weeks before I managed to convince Dan to let us add one more animal household, bringing home Percy, a 5 year old Cockapoo to our home.

He's taken a little while to settle in but now he has we couldn't imagine life without him. He's a little blonde clown who loves cuddles, fuss and long walks with his big brother Jasper!

As Fundraising Manager, I think it's only right that I take on a few of our challenges too! This year, I will be walking across 20ft of hot coals to raise money for animals like Percy.

You may think that a rescue centre might be quite a hard place to work but Leicester Animal Aid is such a positive place to be. The Centre itself is brightly decorated with murals, the kennels and exercise areas are spacious with sofas, toys, ball pits and comfy beds. All the dogs have a schedule of activities, have enrichment toys to keep them occupied in kennels and exercise spaces and are taught via positive training (we don't use any aversion training techniques).

When a dog or cat comes into the Centre, they'll receive a full health check and treatment for any conditions, a lot of love and care from our staff and brilliant volunteers and we match owners to our animals to help to find them the right home.

Some people may think we spoil our animals here - but they deserve everything they have and we do it for a reason. Some have had a bad life so far, some have lost their family and arriving in rescue can be a scary and stressful experience. We do all we can to make their time here enjoyable and positive, to help build confidence, to help work with any behavioural issues and to help to get them ready for life in their new home. Busy, active and well exercised animals are happy and healthy are much more likely to find a new home.

Your donations will help to pay for essential food, veterinary treatment, enrichment toys and chews, treats for training, cosy beds and most importantly, a safe and loving environment to stay in until a new loving home is found.

Thank you for your support xx
