As you all know I took part in 'Run to Remember' which involved running 250 miles over 125 days. We ran 2 miles everyday from 1st Dec 2013 until 4th April 2014 - 1800 Police Officers/Police Staff/Family and Friends took part. The aim was to carry on remembering our fallen colleaugues Nicola and Fiona and the many many others we have lost over the years.
The whole thing was set up by Nicola's father - Bryn Hughes. Following everyone's fantastic efforts of Run to Remember, Bryn and his bessie Rob took on and completed the mammoth task of The North Pole Marathon 2014.
I aimed to run 250 miles and raise £250 but thanks to everybodys donations and encouragement, I ran 300 miles and raised £410!!! Thanks Guys :).
A few of us decided to carry on and took on the 999 challenge, running 999 miles over 12 months, which we are due to finish on 1st December 2014.
We have laughed, cried, despaired, fallen over, injured parts of our bodies we never knew we had! We've ran through rain, mud, hail stone, snow and glorious sunshine ... we've ran through colds, hangovers and complete exhaustion. We ran on Christmas Day, Birthdays, Anniversarys and Holidays. We've beat personal bests and we've ran slower than slugs ... without fail we've ran just because WE CAN!!!
Alongside the 999 Challenge we now start a new challenge - Time to Remember. Taking Time out of everyday to remember. We will be running, walking, cycling or swimming everyday ... starting on the 30th September 2014 for 120 Days.
The aim is again to raise money for the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund, to Remember our fallen colleagues, Remember the family and friends left behind and all those left to pick up the pieces.
I now aim to raise an additional £240 - £2 for everyday I train. Taking my total to £650.
Please give me some motivation by donating as my legs are falling to pieces and it's about to start getting very cold!!
Thanks for reading.
