Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Unfortunately, Nicky passed away in November 2012, just after her 21st birthday. She had spent her whole life battling with juvenile dermatomyositis.  In her memory we have decided to get on our bikes and cycle 20 miles. The money we raise will go to JoLt, the charity that helped her dream of going to Africa come true. Please help us try and pass on the torch and make another young person's dream come true.

The Journey of a Lifetime Trust (JoLt) is an incredibly amazing charity run on a totally voluntary basis by a group of ordinary people with families and careers. It was set up in 1983 to make a positive lasting difference to the lives of disabled, ill, neglected and abused young people. Every two years they organise expeditions all over the world for groups of young people (from fourteen to twenty one years) with significant disadvantages. All long to travel to far-away places. JoLt makes their dreams come true.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

For the past 25 years, the JoLt Trust has taken countless disadvantaged, ill and disabled teenagers on journeys of a lifetime. During these month-long expeditions to remote places like Alaska and the Andes they learn confidence, trust, respect, self-worth and teamwork.
