Story
When my pregnancy came to a premature end I was lucky enough to be able to go to our local NHS Hospital and receive amazing care both for me prenatally and then for our baby girl, Aimee, who was trying to break free when I was 32 weeks pregnant. Thankfully Aimee was already well developed by this stage and she was healthy when she was born at 33.4 weeks. A short stay in the unit for me to establish feeding once her sucking reflex kicked in meant her ng feeding tube could be removed and we were able to take her home within another 2 days and reunite our little family!
Little Buds charity raises money for the special care unit at Darent Valley Hospital where we were cared for. Aimee's Auntie Louise and I would like to run to raise money for the unit. The team there do amazing work day in, day out, not just caring medically for their tiny patients, but also supporting the families whilst they spend their days and nights waiting for their little ones to gain strength, fight illness and hopefully be able to go home! A 'special care' stay costs between £600-£1,400 per day, so I would love to raise life-saving money for them and give back a little after they did so much for our family.
