I was diagnosed with EHE in October 2015. I had a liver transplant on 27th January 2016 at St James's University Hospital in Leeds. I'm now 8 weeks down and feeling good!!!
EHE, or to give its full name Epitheloid Haemangioendothelioma, is one of the rarest cancers in the world. EHERCC is the UK’s newest cancer-focused charity and in April I will be undertaking two 5k events to help raise funds to support the April Fundraising campaign.
On 23rd April I will be doing the Lincoln 5k park run - not bad just 3 months after a transplant!
The second event will be a 5k walk with my British Gas HR colleagues at our April meeting in Stockport.
Funding for research is so important as the Oncology community have no known effective treatments for this cancer, nor can they provide any form of reliable prognosis. And being so rare means that governments, the pharmaceutical industry, and even the big cancer charities, do not provide funding for research.
EHERCC are dedicated to raising the funds needed to carry forward the critical research required to understand EHE and provide answers to the many questions that exist for this cancer.
You can find out more about EHE and the charity at www.ehercc.org.uk.
