Story
We've decided to attempt to run 105 miles, through 3 countries with enough climbing to take us up and down Mount Everest (and then Ben Nevis too for good measure), in a race that starts on a Friday and finishes on a Sunday. We will (on a best case scenario) be running through two nights. Oh and the weather can range from a burning 30C in the valleys (guaranteed to incinerate red-heads like us) to a freezing and snowy -10C on the mountain summits.
Yes, we've done long races before but nothing like this. It has taken us two years to qualify and we've have been training like never before (and generally spent most of the last few months being dull, not drinking and spending all our free time running) but such is the difficultly and viciousness of this race that we are very much going into uncharted territory here.
Why? Well there are a few reasons why (and probably 105 reasons why not) but one of them is to raise funds for Football Action - a charity which we are both trustees of and is therefore very close to our hearts. Football Action uses football to encourage education and inspire children in developing countries such as Honduras, Guatemala, Ethiopia and Kenya.
We have seen first hand how the work which Football Action does can really make a difference to the lives of the children we work with. The more funding we can raise the more children's lives we can help change and the more smiles we can help share across the world.
