Story
This August bank holiday weekend we (Krissi and Jordan) will be taking part in the All Hands Volunteers River Kayak challenge, attempting to kayak 75 km including 18 bridges, 16 locks, in 2 days down the river Thames. With minimal kayaking experience, in a 2 person kayak, in a team of 8 people, who also have minimal kayaking experience, in swan-infested waters, this will be a mammoth challenge!
All Hands Volunteers are a non profit organisation, providing disaster relief around the world in both the immediate aftermath and the long term recovery efforts. All the money fund-raised will be used to buy materials for projects in Nepal to rebuild schools and community shelters. The organisation does some truly amazing work and is driven by the time and effort of volunteers (such as our teams very own Mikel), and so anything you would like to contribute towards the cause will be truly appreciated.
A bit more about the challenge and work being done in Nepal by All Hands Volunteers:
In April last year - 2 devastating earthquakes hit Nepal. Even though Nepal is now out of the news, our work continues, and our All Hands Volunteers are working tirelessly to support the communities who desperately need our help to rebuild their homes, schools and lives. We have two teams of volunteers, still clearing rubble, and preparing to rebuild schools in the worst hit area of Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok. The money we raise goes directly to Nepal to buy tools and materials needed in the rebuild such as wood, nails, concrete - even wheelbarrows. Without your help - we simply could not continue. So please - support our fantastic work, and donate to support our fundraisers in their epic challenge of kayaking 75 km down the River Thames over a short weekend.
