Story
A Mum’s story
We have been members of the Dyspraxia Foundation for just a
few months now, but they have already helped my daughter Phoebe to believe in
herself more. Phoebe wasn’t diagnosed until she was 11, but it was obvious when
she was younger that she was “different” from other children, but I had no idea
why. Phoebe has always been passionate about animals and music and so when she
first saw Britain’s Got Talent Winners Collabro last year, she has been hooked,
and when she found out that Jamie Lambert from Collabro not only has Dyspraxia,
but is also the Celebrity Patron of the Dyspraxia Foundation she was so
thrilled. Thanks to the Foundation we had the chance to bid in an auction to
have lunch with Jamie, which we won. Phoebe’s confidence and belief in herself
has also grown since we have been involved with the Foundation and we have met
so many wonderful people, it is so nice for me and Phoebe to finally feel that
we are not alone and they just “get” what we are going through together. I feel
like I’ve known them for years yet it is only a few months, Phoebe and I and so
many others would be back to being alone if the Dyspraxia Foundation wasn’t
there anymore. As well as the physical side of Dyspraxia which is talked about
a lot, sometimes it is the emotional side which is more difficult to
understand, this is where the support of the Foundation has been really
important to Phoebe, just having someone to identify with has made a huge
difference for her. I can’t imagine life now without the Dyspraxia Foundation
that’s why it’s so important that we do what we can to help them at this very
difficult time. So please help them to keep helping families like ours by
donating today.
