Nadiya is hoping to do medicine - the little hearts project run by Muntada Aid is very dear to her as it offers life saving Heart operations for children.
Each year over 1,000,000 babies are born worldwide with a congenital heart defect. 100,000 of them will not live to see their first birthday and thousands more die before they reach adulthood.
What is a congenital heart disease?
Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a defect in the heart that a baby is born with. It affects 1 in 100 births around the world and can be treated with an invasive/non-invasive heart operation at birth depending on the type of heart defect.
In poor underdeveloped countries, access to treatment is next to impossible for many of its’ poor. Suffering from:
1. A lack of skilled health professionals;
2. A lack of investment in cardiac sector;
3. And where there is the facility and expertise it is beyond the financial means of the poor.
We, people in Britain take health care for granted, Please help us raise funds to meet our pledge & save one child at least.
