Story

I have long been a champion for animals, giving time and money freely to worthy causes.  This time, I am getting off my a**e & taking massive action. This will be a real challenge for me (at my age and with my knees) but I cannot think of anything more worthy.  Imagine spending your entire life (the bears live for around 23 years) locked in a tiny cage with an open wound in your abdomen through which your bile is painfully "milked" daily. The wounds are often infected and bears paws are chopped off to make them easier to handle.  Animals Asia have worked for 18 years to bring this to an end and are managing to close down bile farms and change attitudes. Bear bile farming has been stopped in many provinces already and the rescued bears are living out their lives in the care of a sanctuary, able to forage and heal.  Many are very ill on arrival at the sanctuary due to infections and lack of nutrition so they are treated by veterinarians and nursed back to health after being released from their nightmare. Please donate what you can to this enormously worthy cause.  Thank you.
