Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September I am getting back in the saddle to cycle over 300km in Malawi for Maternity Worldwide.
Everyday across the world 800 women die in pregnancy and childbirth. That's one woman every two minutes! Over 99% of these deaths are in developing countries. The risk is highest for the very poorest women, often those living in remote rural areas.
Maternity Worldwide saves lives in childbirth by providing communities with information on maternal and new-born health and healthcare so they know the risks to look for and can seek medical assistance early; empowering women; training midwives and skilled birth attendants and improving access to maternal healthcare.
Please sponsor me if you can. A donation of any amount will make a huge difference and enable Maternity Worldwide to continue to prevent women dying needlessly in childbirth. For example,£1 will pay for a course of antibiotics to prevent infection following childbirth. £15 could provide a safe birth for a woman delivering at a health centre and £30 could pay for a woman to attend a women's empowerment training group and start a small business enabling her to become financially independent and a decision maker.
