Story
Well Hello, and thank you
for coming here to read about what we are doing.... My brother Peter and
I are going to race the sun across the UK on push bikes; we are planning to do
this on the 18th June! why? Because we can! We are raising cash for Open Arms
Malawi. Who are they? Well they are an organization that provides relief to
children in Malawi suffering from hardship and distress. Their infant
care homes in Blantyre and Mangochi look
after newborn babies until they are 2 years old.
Open Arms main aim is to
return a healthy and fit toddler back to his or her home community. However sadly,
this is not always possible.
Harrogate House is home to
up to twelve 2 – 5 year olds, who begin forming their own little personalities
in their daily nursery school.
After this the children
move on to foster homes where they are looked after by "house mothers"
who have known the children from very early on in their lives.
£14,040 is enough to educate at current rates 3 children from 5 to
18.
Why open arms? this is the organization that
looked after my nephew Reuben in his early life.
Who is
Eva Grace Waitt? well let me tell you her and my story. on the 8th February
2008 I found out I was an uncle for the 13th time. Unlike all the other times
when a phone call or a card would do this time I jumped on my motorbike and
road the 460 mile round trip to say hello face to face. This was the only time
I saw and held Eva. As on 5th June 2008 I was shaving for her funeral. Eva had passed
on to meet her heavenly father on 26th May; following a severe hypoxic brain
injury from a near cot death several weeks earlier. this is the 8th year since
Eva joined our family and although she had only very short earthly life she is
still with us. Once a year I aim to do a long distance bike ride to raise money
for good causes in her memory; and to use this to remind others of her
beautiful time with us and ask them to celebrate her life with our family.
Thank you for your donation!
