Michael James Lewis
14th May 1995 to 25th November 2015
On the 27th December 1999 Michael was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes aged just 4. He grew up having to understand what he did, what he ate, what he drank would have an effect on how he felt and of course the daily multiple injections and the countless daily checks on his blood sugar levels.
Michael took all the above in his stride he was generally the first Diabetic in every activity he took part in from school to scouts but his positive attitude towards life never faltered.
He was a loving caring individual that lived the life he dreamed of. Michael never saw his Diabetes as a boundary it was purely an obstacle he strived to over come.
In fact in Michael's world boundaries didn't exist, he saw the boundaries that stopped people achieving were put in place by their own minds and positive thinking or a step sides ways on the ladder of life would allow you to move beyond these barriers.
These beliefs and his infectious personality has inspired so many of his friends and family to push forward to live their dreams. #livelikemike
Michael was living his dream, studying and working in the live event industry. His desire for perfection so that anyone watching and listening would have the best possible experience generally spilled over into personal nights out where he was always conscious that everyone had a good time.
Tragically Michael passed away aged 20, we believe to be due to DIB syndrome associated to type 1 diabetes, whilst he was living his dream working on live events in Dubai.
This foundation is in his memory and his positive outlook on life is our inspiration to help find a cure for type 1 Diabetes, to prevent other families and friends enduring the pain and heart ache we have.
