Story
In August 2011 my close friends, my daughters God mother, gave birth to a beautiful little boy Nathan who instantly grabbed my heart. Unfortunately Nathan became very poorly and spent a lot of time in varying hospitals.
Nathan died in August 2012 at the age of 1 year and 12 days old due to a mitochondrial disorder. In November 2011 Nathan was diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome which is the most common known cause of inherited learning disabilities. For Nathan this meant that he suffered from a number of associated problems including developmental delay and feeding difficulties. Despite all of this he rarely complained and with his signature fingers in mouth won the heart of everyone who had the honour of meeting him. Running 10 miles is not exactly a hardship when I think of the pain he must have been in without complaining. I am inspired by his parents who despite the horrible pain of grief raise money for an amazing charity.
