Story
I have the best neighbours, Hazel, James, Peggy & Joe. It was an honour to be Godmother to their youngest bundle of joy, Tommy (aka Muti). It was a role that I took on with big love, daft & funny moments! Many a serious neck snuggle was received whilst babysitting or having a chat & cup of tea.
When Hazel & James re-located to Holland from Puttenham, I felt slightly redundant, but emails with photos of Peggy, Joe and Tommy having great fun kept me up to date. Pjyamas and passport were on standby for a sleep over with the little munchkins!
Hazel contacted me in May to say Tommy had been diagnosed with Leukaemia, (Acute Myloid Leukaemia), a rare & aggressive form. My little world went upside down, couldn't even comprehend how Hazel & James must be feeling. Many swear words were issued, many cigarettes were smoked, but I remained positive and hopeful that everything would be good.
Plane tickets to Holland were booked, to spend time with The Swankie's and to see how Tommy was coping with Chemotherapy. 3 weeks after diagnosis Tommy lost his brave fight at 18 months old. Tommy was the bravest, always smiling....(aka Our Sunshine Boy).
To try and make a positive out of such a shit and horrible situation(sorry for swearing, but that's how I feel), I & my fellow team members are going to walk across the South Downs, 100km. It is to raise money for other families going through the same horrendous times as Hazel, James, Peggy & Joe. We will be walking through day and night, stopping for the odd boot and sock change, Vaseline application, toilet stop, crafty ciggie(for me)!
Please support me. This is going to be one of the toughest things I have ever done, but hopefully raise lots of funds for Children with Cancer UK and in memory of my gorgeous godson Tommy...........
Thankyou,
