Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 17 April, I'll be taking part in the Brighton Marathon to raise money for Stonewall, a charity that seeks to create real change for the LBGT community both in the UK and overseas. Stonewall works with both individuals and organisations to ensure LBGT role models are visible throughout public life in order to foster an environment in which LBGT people can participate fully in our society. The charity also works with employers to help them create inclusive and accepting environments for almost a quarter of the UK workforce.
On the international stage, Stonewall provides training and advocacy to support the LBGT community and campaigns to raise awareness. Walking down Old Compton Street on a Saturday night it may be hard to imagine that nearly 40% of the world's population still live in countries where LBGT people can be imprisoned, just for being themselves. Over 400 million people live in countries that punish same-sex sex with the death penalty.
At this time of year, I am sure there will be lots of requests for charitable donations, and any amount at all that you can spare would be much appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page.
